The Label

The Label Our label is a work of art by the Chilean hyperrealist painter Claudio Bravo (Nov. 8, 1936 – June 4, 2011), who was heavily influenced by Renaissance, Baroque, and surrealist artists such as Salvador Dalí.

At the age of 21, Bravo began creating portraits of the social elite in Concepción, Chile, and quickly gained commissions. Among his early works is the portrait of Laura Bisquertt, who lived there with her family. Previously, he painted her three older children, and it was, in fact, one of Bravo's first works sold outside of family and friends.

The artist portrayed many prominent figures of high society and authorities, including Spanish dictator Franco, President Ferdinand Marcos, and First Lady Imelda Marcos of the Philippines, as well as Malcolm Forbes.

Claudio Bravo lived in Chile, Spain, New York, and Morocco from the '70s until his death. He was renowned for his portrait paintings and still lifes, but he also created drawings, lithographs, and bronze sculptures.

Laura and Claudio maintained their friendship throughout their lives
